We'll also round up some of the latest news, events and content from across the month so you don't miss a thing.

This month's guest is Golden Gnome Unsung Hero 2026 nominee, 10Boot! Known for creating video guides that empower even the most low-confidence player to achieve their Old School goals, 10Boot along with his Bootcamp community is worth checking out no matter where you are on your 'Scaping journey.

Community Spotlight

10Boot

My name is 10Boot, I make approachable bossing tutorials, as well as more general mid-game or casual-friendly progression guides and other informational videos.

With the help of my mod team, we run the Bootcamp Discord server, focused on helping people get into PvM.

So, what got you into gaming and Old School?

The first game I ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and I've loved gaming pretty much ever since. Realistically, I was so bad at Sonic that I spent more time watching my mum play. I was a bit more capable on the PS1 and PS2 as I got a little older; I was a huge Ratchet and Clank fan!

I started playing RuneScape originally when I was 10. For a few months, my entire class was obsessed with the game but only two of us stuck around for the long haul - shout out Tom. We did make a lot of online friends though, the community kept us playing as much as the game did.

I’ve got some great memories of grinding out 99 Fletching at the unofficial Fletching guild at Yanille Bank, on W132 at the time. This was way before GE. You can still find the video of my 99 party on YouTube (not on my current channel obviously!).

I quit during EOC, then I played again when Old School first came out, but without the awesome community that we’d previously been playing with, it didn’t hit the same.

I got back into Old School specifically during Covid. My job at the time involved working away from home so when we weren’t working, I was confined to my room for social distancing reasons with not much else to do. I found Swampletics on YouTube, and that was it. I started playing again, and I've been hooked ever since!

What's your biggest achievement from your time in Old School?

My biggest in-game achievement is getting the Dizana’s quiver, no doubt. It was one long grind, but doing it all on Twitch made every second of it super fun.

What inspired you to start making OSRS videos?

Growing up, I always had a creative outlet, and as I got older and focused on work and other priorities, I lost that.

As a teenager, and in my early 20s, I spent a lot of time playing in bands. I don’t have the time or musical ability to do that as an adult. So I was looking for something different to do!

After watching a ridiculous amount of OSRS content, I decided I'd make some videos. I didn’t have the time, knowledge, or quite honestly, the discipline, to build some crazy snowflake account, and I didn't have the patience to put in the time required to be a top-tier player - so I decided I'd just try and help people in a similar situation to me learn new content that they might find intimidating.

Can you share a little insight into the process of making guide videos?

Absolutely! For a guy that makes guides, I'm actually pretty bad at the game. I think that’s something that really helps me make content that people tackling something for the first time will find useful.

So in the context of a boss guide, I'll always try and kill the boss a few times completely fresh. I’ll take a glance at the Wiki for some gear suggestions, but I never go too crazy looking into mechanics in depth or watching any videos myself.

I would not necessarily recommend going in blind to other players, but it allows me to make the mistakes and fall into the common traps first, so I can include them in my video to make other players aware. It also means I don’t include any unnecessary optimisations... Usually because I don't actually know they exist.

Once I've got my rough method down, that's generally when I look to the Wiki to help me fill in any gaps that I've missed.

I’ll draft a script, record audio, then I'll plan out my entire video with a list of shots that I need to get. Obviously I'll record a few boss KC, but I also get a few character shots and b-roll footage from in-game locations, it’s all important for helping a video to flow. Then I piece it all together and get it uploaded!

You're known for creating really noob-friendly guides! Tell us a bit about creating content for newer or lower-confidence players.

I found it really hard to get into bossing. I think a lot of other people have struggled, or are struggling with it right now. I love the combat system in OSRS but when I started learning, it was not particularly intuitive to pick up. A lot of the content that was out there was giving really in-depth overviews, which is so valuable if you’re already pretty good and trying to master something. I personally found it really overwhelming.

Since I've started creating guides, we’ve had so many bosses that drip-feed those essential PvM mechanics. From Brutus, to Scurrius, then Titans and Moons, and eventually ToA - there is a much cleaner on-ramp to the endgame, and I think a lot of people don’t realise that.

My first hope is that players can see that no content in this game is insurmountable, that people feel encouraged to give new content a try, and that people realise that death in-game or failure is nothing to be afraid of, it’s all a learning experience.

Is there anything particularly tricky about making guide videos aimed at newer players?

The biggest challenge is finding the right balance, if you simplify an explanation too much, you might not be thorough enough to give an actionable understanding to the viewer. If you go into too much detail, you end up frying their brains with too much information too quickly.

As for how to overcome it, it's just a trial-and-error process of finding the balance. I have to go with my gut and not overthink things. I’ve had to realise that I’m never going to be able to make content that resonates with everyone, and that’s ok, so if I can sit down at the end of a video and say to myself "I would have found it useful a few years ago", I’ll post it. Trying to make content for everyone is the best way to make content that nobody finds useful!

What is your favourite type of content to make and why?

My favourite thing to make was actually something I've only done once.

Essentially I kill pretty much every boss in the game and give a running commentary - attempting a soothing ASMR voice. It probably sounds mega weird. It's not deadly serious, there is a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour.

Other than that, the truly honest answer is that I enjoy making all my content. I’m not a full time creator, so I’m not reliant on making successful content to earn money, which means I can take more risks with the content I make!

If you had to recommend just one of your videos that a player should watch, which one would it be?

My bossing ladder video, for sure. If you aren’t sure where to get started with bossing, or what your next steps should be, it’ll point you in the right direction.

Do you have any favourite moments from your content creation journey?

Getting nominated for the Unsung Hero Award at the Golden Gnomes is the obvious choice! But honestly, just getting to know so many awesome people, and watching the community that I'm a part of grow over time, has been the highlight for me.

Tell us a bit about your streaming. What should players expect if they were to join your stream?

Usually I stream once a week. I’ll alternate between learner raids where we focus on getting people their first KC, and progressing my own account, learning new content myself. Although, I’m just about to start the Inferno grind, so that might be about to change. If you want to watch me struggle, or roll up and offer me some tips, I'm going to need all the help I can get.

Can you share any stand-out moments that have happened within your community?

I’m not gonna shout out anyone by name as there are way too many awesome people for me to list. Everyone that’s been involved with the Bootcamp Discord and Clan is a legend and it would not exist without the support of the Admins, Clan Officers, and Community Teachers that help me run it. Obviously the server has my name on it, but it’s grown way beyond me at this point.

We recently ran a community event, the Bootcamp Summer Games. It was essentially a five-week long event with challenges inspired by Soup’s Gielenor Games. We had a massive prize pool and an awesome turn out. I’m really looking forward to being involved with events like this in the future. Huge shout out to the community and clan officer team that helped put it all together!

What do you enjoy most about being part of your community?

Seeing everyone's achievements! It’s nice when I can see my video has helped someone clear their first Entry Mode Raid, or get DT2 done. However, it’s even more satisfying when I see someone join with a problem that I can't help with, like the inferno, for example, and I watch the community band together to give them the advice and coaching that they need to get the job done.

How can someone join in and become part of your community?

You can join our Discord server, The Bootcamp!

Expect to find a welcoming community of players with a similar mindset towards the game - we’re all looking to improve, but in an environment that encourages progression by supporting each other through hard content, welcoming newbies on learner raids, and providing good, practical advice to people that ask for it. Nobody is going to tell you to just “get good” and there are no stupid questions!

We have a clan too, but it’s full right now. We remove inactive members every month, so if you’re interested in joining, keep an eye out. In the meantime, you can join the “Bootcamp” in-game CC as a guest. Anyone is welcome.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

One of the things I really want to build with Bootcamp is a community where people are invested in each other’s progression. I don't like the idea of people learning something difficult and then pulling the ladder up behind them. We’re not about just spooning noobs their first KC, we want to create players who will eventually help someone else get theirs.

If you’re an experienced player and you want to help, come and get involved! If you’re someone who wants to learn, the doors are open.

A massive thank you to 10Boot for chatting to us and showing us behind the curtain on creating his noob-friendly guides and all about the Bootcamp! Remember you can find all his guides over on YouTube.

Creator News

Animator and artist Amentos recently teamed up with Unpragmatic Covers (check out our previous Spotlight!) to produce RuneFall, an animated passion project in memory of Amentos' dad. This is truly James Bond Meets OSRS and we couldn't be more blown away.

All artwork expertly created by Amentos himself in Blender, and Unpragmatic Covers' OSRS take on Skyfall by Adelle really tops the whole sequence off.

We caught up with Amentos for a few words on the project.

Amentos:

A few months ago, I rewatched all of the James Bond movies and fell in love with how cool their title sequences are, especially Skyfall! I was already imagining recreating the entire movie in a style us OSRS-ers could relate to, but a 90-minute fanimation felt a little too ambitious.

Passion projects are always fun. The bigger, the better! But like most things, making stuff is even more fun when you get to share the process with someone else. So I reached out to Unpragmatic Covers to see if they'd be up for adding their own spice to the soup. Turns out they're not only incredibly talented, but also amazing people to work with, so I was super happy they were down to collaborate!

This passion project was made by the community, for the community. You don't need a fancy studio or a big budget to make cool stuff. So hopefully, this inspires more people in the community to get creative and make some art of their own.

Make sure to give it a watch for yourself!

Finally, checking back in with the incredible (and Golden Gnome winning) RS Art Community.

The RuneScape Art Community annual SCAPETOBER challenge started on October 1st!

Scapetober is an OSRS/RuneScape-centric variation of Inktober. It challenges artists to draw a picture based on the daily themed prompt list, for the whole month of October. Unlike Inktober though, artists do not have to use ink, they are free to use any media they choose.

Here's the full list of themes:

Wanting to partake without the intensity of daily art for a month? Feel free to only do the orange prompts for a more chill prompt list!

Ultimately, it’s up to you to do as many or as few prompts as you’d like, at the level of finish of your choosing, and at your own pace, this is meant to be fun, not stressful!

Post your art on social media with the hashtag #Scapetober and in the monthly-prompt channel in the RuneScape Art Community Discord to share your creations!

The RS Art Community have shared some of the pieces produced so far, so we thought we'd pop them in a little gallery for you to peruse. Enjoy!
